ANIMAL CONTROL RECIPE
Oily Garden Repellent
A pungent oil-and-garlic spray that most garden-raiding animals find unpleasant enough to avoid, without harming the plants it's protecting.
Prep: 15 minutes
Yields: about 1 quart
Organic-friendly
Ingredients
1 whole bulb garlic, cloves separated and peeled
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 quart water
1 teaspoon mild liquid dish soap
Instructions
1
Blend the garlic cloves with the vegetable oil until smooth.
2
Let the mixture sit for 24 hours in a covered jar to fully infuse.
3
Strain out the solids, then stir the infused oil into the water along with the dish soap.
4
Spray around the perimeter of the garden and directly on vulnerable plants.
Tip: Reapply after rain and rotate with another repellent occasionally, since animals can grow used to a single scent over time.
