Garlic Garden Spray
A simple, all-natural spray that keeps aphids, beetles, and other soft-bodied insects off your plants — garlic's sulfur compounds repel pests without harming the beneficial ones.
Ingredients
Instructions
Puree the garlic cloves with the mineral oil in a blender or food processor until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a jar, cover, and let it steep overnight (at least 12 hours) so the oil pulls the garlic’s sulfur compounds.
Strain the mixture through cheesecloth into the quart of water, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
Stir in the dish soap — it helps the spray cling to leaves — and pour into a spray bottle.
Spray the tops and undersides of affected plant leaves, avoiding open blooms if pollinators are active.
Tip: Spray in the early morning or evening, never in direct midday sun — the oil in the mixture can scorch leaves in strong heat. Reapply after rain.
