Bug Spray
A citrus-and-vinegar spray for general garden bug patrol — bright-smelling, easy to mix, and useful as a first line of defense for most crawling and flying pests.

Ingredients
Peels from 2–3 citrus fruits (orange, lemon, or grapefruit)
2 cups white vinegar
1 teaspoon mild liquid dish soap
Strainer and spray bottle
Instructions

Pack the citrus peels into a jar and cover completely with vinegar.

Seal the jar and let it steep in a cool, dark spot for about a week, shaking occasionally.

Strain out the peels and stir the dish soap into the infused vinegar, then pour into a spray bottle.

Spray on and around plants to deter common bugs, avoiding open blooms if pollinators are active.
Tip: Save citrus peels in the freezer until you have enough for a batch — this recipe is a great way to use up scraps you'd otherwise toss.
